With the festive season just around the corner, our thoughts turn to how we might add a bit of sparkle and style to our party wardrobes. You may find that after the last couple of years, you’re struggling a bit with what to wear.
Of course, as always, there’s plenty to choose from in the shops and online but remember to shop your wardrobe and jewellery collections before buying new. You might find a few hidden gems that you’d completely forgotten about and that haven’t seen the light of day since Christmas 2019!
Having done that, read on for a few suggestions on how to add that festive sparkle whatever the occasion this season.
Go for head-to-toe sequins
If you have quite a dramatic signature style, you’ll probably love to stand out and make a statement. So, when it comes to partywear go for it, whether that’s a sequinned dress, jumpsuit or separates. After all, if you can’t go all out at Christmas, when can you?
If you have had a colour analysis and black isn’t in your palette, or you fancy a something a bit different, then have some fun exploring some of the other colours in your palette. The little black dress is timeless, but a different colour is sure to get you noticed.
Wear sparkle on your top half
If you’re not dancing the night away, but going out to dinner or drinks instead, or simply planning an outfit for Christmas day, the chances are you’ll be sitting down a lot so make sure to draw attention to where it matters.
Sequinned trousers will be wasted here, so if you have a favourite pair of trousers or a skirt in your wardrobe, build your outfit around these. Choose a sparkly top in a colour that looks amazing on you and focus on your hair and make-up for extra glamour.
Statement accessories
If you have a more classic signature style type and prefer a more understated look, then a bit of sparkle in your accessories or make-up might be all you need to feel dressed up and ready to party. Keep it simple with a little black dress or an outfit in a neutral colour from your palette and let the accessories do the talking.
Stylish bold earrings
Try some bold earrings to add a touch of glitz and glamour. Go for your favourite metallic or try one of your very best colours from your palette. You may find that if you have a shorter neck, that you might want to avoid long dangly earrings like these, but you still could go for something equally bold and stand out.
A statement necklace
A necklace like this one from Next really is all you need to feel dressed up and ready to party. When going for a chunky necklace like this, be sure to consider your scale. If you’re petite, you might find it a little overwhelming unless you have a dramatic style type.
Sparkly sequinned clutch
A sparkly sequinned clutch bag like this will brighten up any outfit. If you’re going for a dress in a neutral colour, wear your best red or pink lipstick and nail polish to tie the look together. Again, when choosing a clutch bag, think about your scale and style type as well as your colours.
And even if you have no parties to go to this Christmas, try adding a bit of sparkle to your everyday style with tops, accessories or even your makeup. It really does help to brighten those darker months and lift your spirits as well as the spirits of those around you.
