Where did autumn go?
It seems like only two minutes ago it was just the beginning of October and here we are now in the very depths of winter and it’s almost Christmas!
I do love Christmas but I know how stressful it is for so many of us. Thinking about style and what we’re going to be wearing can add just another layer of stress, so here are just a few last minute style tips for you to consider as we rapidly approach one of my favourite times of the year.
Style in Second-hand Sparkles
We all know that sequins are bad for the environment. Those little shiny plastic discs stay around for a long time, so it’s important to shop carefully and choose wisely to ensure that whatever sparkles you do buy, you’ll get plenty of wear from.
Aspiga are using recycled sequins, which I think is a great idea if you’re buying new, but you could go one better and check out the local charity shops for your festive sparkles.
Shoulder Action
No one can deny that it is now definitely sweater weather, (and in my case, thermals, tights under jeans and big coats weather too).
But if you have a straight body shape, have you ever wondered why some jumpers just don’t look right on you? Check the shoulder fit.
A dropped shoulder will give the appearance of a rounded shoulder, and can look a little sloppy on your frame. If this is you, then try going for a fitted or raglan shoulder to complement your straight shape.
Not Just For Christmas
Sticking with jumpers, I know several women who have said to me that they don’t want to buy a Christmas jumper as they don’t feel they’d get the wear from it that would make it planet and bank balance friendly.
I completely understand this and my advice is always to avoid the cheap, disposable trend and buy something more stylish that you can not only bring out year after year, but also get more than one or two days’ wear out of each year.
A jumper like the one above from Monsoon (perfect for Lights and Softs), or indeed one with a bit more sparkle, but without ‘Christmas’ emblazoned across the front could be worn from the beginning of December, (perhaps even earlier), right through until February.
Festive Makeup
Fancy some festive new makeup? The Christmas gift sets over on my online shop will not only save you money, but they are designed to suit you perfectly whatever your colouring.
The festive compact is filled with products for eyes, lips and cheeks and is available in warm or cool shades and includes a very Christmassy red lipstick.
If you need help choosing the right compact, give me a shout, I’d be delighted to help you.
